Amersfoort May 8, 2013. The solar panels have been placed at Primary School De Kubus, our first Dutch SolarSchool. Employees of Eneco Installation Company placed 60 solar panels, which cover the roof.
For the installation work it was chosen for the May holidays, when the children are not at school. Labour was not only on the roof, but in the rest of the building as well. The inverter was placed at the entrance hall. It is now placed next to the electricity meter cupboard. It's surprisingly the very best place to secure the device: against an air duct that leads to the roof.
The system is owned by the school, but paid by the Cooperative Sun @ School. During the coming 23 years, the school will refund the purchase with an annual energy savings that provide the solar panels.
With a deposit of 5000 Euros is PicoSol one of the members of this Cooperative. The annual refunds will be used for maintenance of the Cambodian SolarSchools project. It is a great solution to include the operating budget for many years in the project costs.
